I love Dorothy Whipple but I’ve never heard of her Random Commentary! It sounds wonderful! As do all your plans — the ducks will find their way into a row!
The 'there's a crab' moment made me smile - I'm much the same way, though in this environment it's more likely to be a chipmunk or cardinal. And the tortoise reminds me, did you ever try 'Come, Thou Tortoise' by Jessica Grant? I recommend it to everyone who will listen, but I do think it might be to your taste.
‘Can you look quite serious?’ asked the photographer. I tried, then beamed. ‘Ooooh! There’s a crab!’
Relate so very much to this sentiment and impulse! Goofy smiles and general misplaced bonhomie means I’ve never exuded a mystique nor found my “best side” for photos. More muggins pointing excitedly to ducks, dogs, delighted by cake etc
Yes, how DO you reach the elusive "liminal space". Things always seem a bit too full-on to locate it! But not as full-on as your life, by the sound of it.
The thought of having to be photographed in a swimming costume would fill me with dread. Fair play to you!
