Hello Team CCC! I write this from Rockaway Beach, NYC. Today I swam in the Atlantic with the New York Dippers! I ate an amazing Reuben, and a mysterious deli cake made swathed in layers of clingfilm, and made from layers of sponge and cinnamon shortbread. (I can’t find it on the internet, American readers, any ideas?) Last night I saw James Acaster’s show, Hecklers Welcome, at the Beacon Theatre. I ate a cacio e pepe slice at Mama’s TOO. I met a charming cab driver who did not yell at me for eating a Chip City cookie in his backseat, but did take his eyes off the road and his hands off the wheel to show me his favourite boats… and I’ve seen flying geese and stray cats and ducks, and I’m hoping for a whale…

It’s bliss to have some old fashioned vacation time. I feel quite a lot like Will Ferrell in Elf, and I’m really noticing the difference that a few sunny days make. The Vitamin D has turned up the dial on my internal brightness - with that in mind, this week’s edition of Five Things is dedicated to Spring!

The Friday letter is for paying subscribers - it’s an extra way of saying thank you to the people who are able to support this newsletter. I love and appreciate you enormously. If you’d like to join us (and get loads of other good stuff - full access to the archives, discounts on courses, the chance to comment and contribute to the community) hit the button below!

Now for five things that bring the Spring!
